Default Minkies

Hi all, are Minkies a successful pattern on the Irish lakes in the early season. What would be the best way to fish them?Cheers

Minkies/zonkers are a good early season fly, even more so if there are fry around.
Fished usually on a glass or sinker, As with all flies the speed of retrieve can vary from day to day or even hour to hour.
Good for stocked rainbows all through the year.

Minkies can be deadly on the Irish Loughs at the start of the season fished deep and fast.

Agree Have caught on Minkies on Lough Erne in march.

Di4 was the best lines. Short fast strips with the odd pause in between. And hanging before recasting can induce a take.
