Default What next ?

While moosing through my free copy of TF I happened upon a fly that I hadn't see for a while.... a cats whisker, which was tied on a double hook. Strange I thought can't see many rainbow boinkers using a double or many places allowing them. A couple of pages latter here's that Welsh fellow whose name I can't spell recommending doubles as a tail fly for the 'hang technique'.

Any opinions on rainbow boinking with doubles? Smacks of desperation to me.

There's nothing wrong with using wee doubles, you get a better hook up and it can be used on the point instead of a weighted fly when they are not permitted, all personal preference at the end of the day.

Wee doubles have always been exceptable in trout fishing but I would have worries using a big lure double.
In my opinion small doubles de-barbed can do less damage than a single.

commonly used (within the fishery and comp rules) on large reservoirs in UK, most usually upto the 5/8th's inch length limit. No big deal - no issue of massive catch rates/'cheating' etc etc etc - they are just handy to use sometimes on the end on the leader cos they are heavier than most singles and allow your leader to fish at an angle as a result.
Many comps operate a maximum '4 hook points' rule ie you could fish 4 single flies, a double and 2 singles or 2 doubles if you wished.
