Haven't fished it for about 3 or 4 years now, but I've had a few in the past. Peter O'Reilly did a gig [talk] for me here in the UK several years ago at Grafham Water FF. That was the last time I saw the late Arthur Cove who popped along to renew his friendship with Peter. It seems he and Peter fished together a few years back.
I find the Erriff [any river come to that] hard on my knees and hip these days so have more or less given up on the Salmon except in Canada from a boat.
I've always got on well with Jim Stafford and I see his son Trevor is now on the staff there. Little Trevor is now big Trevor and has had a good teacher.
I'll perhaps give it another try in July if there's any water and I can afford it?

yes , erriff hasnt fished as well for the last 2 years, delphi certainly would be a better choice or for a more open water the river moy at foxford or ballina,

river drowes a good early season river thats get a good run of grilse and sea trout all through the summer.

getting expensive now adays and really i think a good day out on the loughs would provide just as good sport

That's a first for me too. I have fished it often for brown trout when the lake wasnt fishing, but never caught a sea trout on it.

I was led to believe that they are as good as non-existent and that the gillaroo use the river to spawn.

They must run the Drowse as I caught one by the Graveyard shore at Rossinver a couple of years back.
But if you want to be sure of hooking one Michael the estuary at Ballyshannon is the place. silver and black snake.
We must try it.

Peter caught them in the sea pool ,
bill likely was there , wasnt the only ones caught, , FISHED IT EVERY YEAR SINCE 1983 AND ALWAYS DID PRETTY OK ON IT,
CAUGHT NICE BROWN TROUT IN THE RIVER BELOW THE COTTAGES, AND HAD SEA TROUT FROM THE WASH STONES DOWN TO THE SEA POOL,
NOTHING MASSIVE BUT SEA TROUT,

Fair enough Liam. Dont usually go down to the washstones. Find that water a bit boring. As for the gillarroo spawning in the drowes, personally haven't seen them but have caughr v nice sonnaghan at the crooked hole in late april, in great condition too, all on a black pennell size 12.
Funny story. Was watching a friend salmon fishing in January at the crooked hole. He was wading the river but flip me pink a salmon swam between me and him(I was on the river's edge). It was virtually in the grass!
Thomas before him and Shane have done a great job on the river and deserve great praise. On the subject of sea trout the Duff does get a run because I have seen some dead ones?mink on stones just at the big bridge upstream from MARY'S BRIDGE. Never realised the Duff is a broader river than the drowes. Hope that meet JJ talks about comes to fruition as would love to meet up with you guys.
Michael
