I'm currently doing the new crossword but 24 across has me, salmon poacher, 8 letters, it could be smuggler but 19 down is "small fish" 6 letters and minnow fits in, this then throws smuggler out of the window as the 2nd n in minnow is the 2nd letter in the salmon poacher clue, any ideas?

It seems to have to fit the pattern:

_ N _ G _ L _ R

So SNIGGLER or SNAGGLER would fit.

I'm still leaning towards SNIGGLER despite oft found reference to eels.

Anyone know any different?
