Default beginners tackle?

I've just bought a 3 PIECE 9ft # 6-7 VIPER MARK 2 FLY ROD & a couple of reels 1-tf gear 7/8 reel, 2-impulse wide arbour 7/8 graphite reel plus some daiwa lochmoor lt7dtf line, my question is will these be ok for a beginners general lake set up?

Perfectly adequate mate, maybe start out on a WF line though, just get a cheapo mill end or second for a fiver or less to start with, have a thrash and get yourself a couple of hours qualified instruction, money well spent.

Wrighty - I dont see why not but best look at getting a wee lesson or two there as a decent instructor will be able to iron out any problems for you or advise if the gear is not up to scratch.

Most modern gear is decent nowadays so you should be fine with that gear albeit you may wish to look for a cheap WF7F line as you have a double taper there. A WF = Weight forward and is a better line for a beginner to learn to cast.

Best of luck

Ben
