Default New Fisherman

Hello Im new to the forum and new to the fishing game, i was a keen fisherman as a teenager but left it when my father became ill and after his passing 5 years ago i have now gone back to fishing and i love to do fly fishing now, im no expert but ive been watching some old boys and have had a few of my uncles show me the ropes, i had an old rod and reel given to me but these were not suitable to my needs so i have bought a greys greyflex m2 9'6 6/7 rod, would like to buy a reel to match this rod, could anyone advise on a reel to suit this please. I have a budget of about £40-£50 at the moment.
I went fishing on the weekend and caught a few nice trout so i will post a few pics in the relevent sections when i work it out, thankyou for your time.

Welcome Welshade. Keep a look out on the classifieds.
If you want it quicker though I can recommend Grommit, who is a member on here and runs his own shop. He always strives to give you the best deal he can and his service is excellent.
There were some offers within the trade classifieds recently. Maybe look through these.

Good luck
Willie

Hi Welshade, welcome to the forums. Would I be right in guessing we have a new Welshman on the forum?

It's overrun with infidels from North of the border and O'er the water here.

Welcome
Im sure someone on here will sort you out with a reel, but the Greys GRXI is only £50 or less and have 4 spools so you can change lines over quickly, also the scierra Ic3 is the same price and same amount of spools

I have the 5/6 weight of the same rod and use the GRXI reel for it. It is very good value for money and with all those spare spools you can carry different lines with you. The quality is pretty good as well.

Tight lines

Hi Ade,

Welcome to the forum! From reading your post, I assume your a Lake/Reservoir fisher and of course you caught some trout recently! And River Trout are out of season! Well, for another 20, days! (I Can Hardly Wait) So it must be Reservoir? Yeah? Have a look at the reels on offer at Fishtec.co.uk I use one of their X.Stream #4/6 Reels had it two seasons and it is still like new after being used all year round!

Look forward to reading your future posts!

Regards

Mostyn
