I use them for big heavy caddis patterns for grayling fishing in fast deep water. I don't get snagged on the bottom and they hook fish well.

Freestyle,

The design of the hook means that the pattern usually swims hook point up, minimising the chances of being snagged on the bottom.

The vast majority of recognised patterns include a bead slipped along the hook shank to the eye which then keeps the head of the fly down, tail up -again more acurately imitating an insect.

Kind regards

I was a bit dubious at first then was given a couple of tungsten beaded flees and they worked perfectly.

Bought myself some cracking #10 Hanak 400BL from here: lady of the stream - www.uniqueflies.co.uk

The Pirate.
