Default Tackle bags on the bankside?

How many of you carry a tackle bag with them whilst fishing stillwaters?

I normally have all my tackle and fly boxes in me vest which I prefer as I dont like carrying a bag. But recently Ive got out my lures, which I normally keep in a pocket size compartment box, just thrown in, and Ive placed them all in a big wooden box with each lure hooked into foam which doesnt fit in me vest.

Meaning I have to carry a bag. The only alternative is to go back to the compartment box but means I cant see each lure and have to rumidge through a mass of flies to find a one I want.

In addition to the lure box I carry 5 other boxes about 5'' x 4'' containing: buzzers, weighted buzzers, emergers, dries and wets. They all fit nicely in the old vest.

Just wondered what everyone else does with their fly boxes? Bag or vest?

Cheers chaps

Only what is in my vest, Bag just sits at home holding the spares.
Seen a classic a couple of years ago 3 lads had placed there bags at 3 separate points on the bank almost keeping the spots for themselves and were then fishing 3 other hot spots. Along came this very large angry looking angler and launched all three bags into the woods and told them not so politely what he thought of there tactics

I mostly fish from a boat so i have a boat box, if for the odd occassion i fish from the bank i just cart my box about with me.
I love the fact that its waterproof if it rains and also it has everything i might need to use in it!
I use to take what i thought i needed from the box and stick it in the vest for days from the bank but it always resulted in my forgetting to take something
Tackle bags were always a pest when it rained and nothing worse than a wet days fishing than to have to get home and set everything out to dry!

Bag on small still waters - simply easier than deciding what to leave in the car or put in the vest - and my one still water fly box is a big one. It goes in a shoulder tackle bag smaller than the big one which is really a boat box (or as Fawcetts called it a "hotel to car" box) on big waters. Where I go the box goes.

Rivers just the vest.

Much prefer to load up my vest and carry nothing else.

I do, however, occasionally carry a bag on stillwaters, particularly at this time of year when lures may be required along with hats, gloves, soup, ice axe, crampons, etc.

I have a fishpond double-haul pack thingy which I bought specifically for rivers and scottish lochs, where I like to roam for the day. Not tried it yet but hopefully it will be useful.

Both, though bag is just for a couple of spare spools and my lunch.

I used to use a bag,but never liked wearing it constantly so I used to find a spot and then sit it down but found I never moved around as much when I had it as it was a real PITA to put everything back in close it up, grab the net etc etc.

Now I wear everything, flask is slung from my shoulder in a carrier (which I don't mind), vest holds all the tackle I'm likely to need, net on the back of my vest, in doing this I find I'm considerably more mobile than I used to be and move around a lot more which has ultimately led to me landing more fish.

why not buy a vest with a large pocket on the back for your large fly box.

My "dolly parton" vest can fit 2 x wychwood comp boxes in the back at a push but it's much more comfortable with just 1 in there.
