Default News of Sage rod lottery supporting Urban River Fishery

Hi there, as part of the WTT and Sage "Rods for Conservation" partnership ( Wild Trout Trust. ) a lottery is being held to support the work of the Steel City's Trout in the Town Project (SPRITE). As well as the rod, there are a bunch of really cracking additional prizes (including fishing):

•A Sage rod Model VPS 590-4
•£50.00 gift John Lewis gift vouchers
•£20.00 gift Orvis gift vouchers
•Bottle of House Of Commons Whisky donated by Rt Hon David Blunkett
•Meal for 2 at Spinrocs Crookes Sheffield
•Evening for 2 at Sheffield Crucible
•Tickets for Sheffield Owlerton Studium
•1 rod for 2 days on the River Test or River Itchen
•1 rod on the River Dove (Derbyshire)

Any funds raised will go towards SPRITE's work on the river which includes:
  • Trash Clean ups
  • Local Schools visits and education programmes
  • Free coaching for young anglers
  • Campaigning to protect the river from pollution and threats of development
  • Representing and promoting game and coarse angling on the City's river

Please email me on pgaskell@wildtrout.org to buy tickets via the post (£5 for a book of 5).

N.B. The number of tickets that we have had printed versus the number of prizes means that the odds are really very good on a fiver or a tenner's-worth of tickets.....

Thumbs up

Paul, I would be more than happy to add a days fishing on the Dukes Beat of the Lathkill to the list of lots in support of SPRITE. Send them along in August for the BWO, tell them to stay late and that they should expect a day of their dreams; dry fly fishing for the Lathkill Wild Trout.

You heard it here first folks!!!

Who fancies following in the footsteps of the Compleat Angler and fishing the historic River Lathkill on the Duke of Devonshire's private beat for a fiver????

Remember the more tickets you buy, the better chance you'll have of bagging the experience of a lifetime.....

Email me for address details for cheques.

Count me in for a fiver's worth

Don't you have a Paypal account? - it would make donations simpler.

Do you want a guided day on the Monnow (or trib)?
I know it's probably worth more unguided (!) but beggars can't be choosers!

good luck - great cause

I do have a paypal account, but because SPRITE is a separate Community Interest Company (of which John is the chairman) I like to have things paid into that account so it is all transparent and above board!

I'm sure a guided day on the Monnow would be very well received indeed....

you're welcome - although (like the Lathkill lot) it would make considerably more in an auction - might be wasted on a raffle - your call.

Good luck

I'm very happy giving a days fishing to someone supporting this excellent charity. I love the idea, like the people and think they do an excellent job. People have long since understood that projects like this ( and the Erewash group with Mick ) are blueprints to follow on urban or degraded streams throughout the country. There is nothing that makes a countrymans heart leap more than seeing a small trout in an urban stream. Think of the times we have all looked from city bridges with the faintest hope of seeing a fish and been so downhearted when the sight that meets us is algae, rubbish and a thick oil film, with no chance of fish. I won't forget one little fish that kept me sane while working in London many years ago.
