Default Stillwaters in yorkshire?

I started fly fishing last September after years of course and sea fishing,
So far I’ve fished,

Kilnsey,
Raygill,
Fewston,
Helwith bridge,
Embsay,
Stocks,

Just wondering with the spring around corner can anyone recommend any nice spots big, or small that I’ve not tried yet? I live in skipton but don’t mind traveling for a days fishing. Cheers lads

Thumbs up

Leighton Reservoir is a good one, opens in a couple of months. It's 5 miles north of Masham.

Also Maran Lakes (Wetherby) and West Tanfield (West Tanfield)

Matt.

Wellycod, if you have been to Fewston have you tried the other two reservoirs? Swinsty and Thruscross.

I'm going there tomorrow!

I've only been a handful of times over the years, last time I went was a couple of months back and I got the feeling that they were very hook-shy. Managed to C&R about 6 or so. Some big 'un's lurking aroud too.

Never got round to fishing the top specimen lake yet, maybe tomorrow.........

i went to pennine for the first time last week
loved it, there are some real monsters in there

i fish a lot at walton hall, as there is lots of nice pike in too that you can fly fish for also plenty of nice perch

i fishing tommorrow, was thinking of having another go at pennine, but i also really fancy having a go at raygill to fish for the pike too
not fished raygill yet but looks a nice place

ive fished fewston and the one below but not the one above!

Fished raygill a few times, some real nice fish in there but defo hook shy. Avoid on weekends tho unless you like to fishing shoulder to shoulder, Also seriously deep water straight from the bank, can be good casting parallel to the banks working the different depths, and also theres quite a few roach in there and the real biggest often go for a slow fished fish imitation,

At ripon whats the difference between east and west tanfield are they the same place?

Default Yorkshire Stillwaters

All the places Matt B mentioned above, plus Bellflask (nr Ripon). A fairly large gravel pit, owned and managed by Brian Morland, who lives on site. He also has (or had?) another 'estate lake' fishery near Catterick whose name escapes me - I've never fished it. Bellflask is worth a trip, although it was getting hard when I last fished it a few years ago before moving away.

Leighton's definitely worth a day out!!
