Default Amazing days fishing yesterday and 2 new PB's

Hi
Due to my limited time I had yesterday to go fishing and even though it was raining I thought well if I dont go it will be at least a fortnight before I get chance to go again. I set off for the 30 mile journey and the weather didnt improve all the way there. I got set up signed in and headed off to a spot where I had caught a few trout previously. After a couple of casts the indicator buried and i bent into an angry trout which certainly tried out my new rod. After a few moments I was slipping my net under a 4lb rainbow which was a new PB for me after only usually catching 1 1/2 - 2lb stockies. Anyway an hour or so later and the indicator went under again and after striking a rather large bend appeared in my rod and what felt like a very heavy weight on the end. All of a sudden this big bright shape appeared on the surface then an awesome bow wave as it made its way to freedom. I can certainly say my reel has a good drag as the line was stripped from it quite fast. After a brief moment of disappointment as i thought it had come off I realised it was swimming back towards me, so reeling like mad to catch up with it I managed to keep a tight line and regain some control. It then popped up on the surface at which point I realised my net may not be deep enough (trout seem a lot longer than carp !) Anyhow it went in and after looking in the net I couldnt stop shaking Id never seen a trout so big in the flesh. After a quick weigh in the net it went 11.5 lb so i estimate about 10lb without the net. I couldnt believe it. was a nice sight to watch it power back into the water to be caught another day. after another stockie I hooked into another lump which like the last one gave a very good account of itself jumping out and basically doing everything it could to throw my hook. after a few minutes I had it in the net and another fantastic fish weighing just over 6lb.

Sorry for the bad photos but I was on my own and dont like to mess the fish about so a couple of quick ones while they were in the net before been returned to fight another day.

Just glad I didnt let the weather put me off.

And best of all on a fly I had tied myself !

Yes Bruce well worth a ride over, I just need a lot bit more practice with the running water although maybe Im not doing too bad. Trouble with fishing by yourself no one to judge against.

Hi bruce I was using a weighted bloodworm pattern mate, it was one I had tied myself with a gold head and lead wire under the body so it was quite a heavy fly.
