Dilly Wax has much the same constancy as Gherke's Gink. I was given a blob of some a while ago. It seemed about the same as Gink, can't say whether it was worse or better.

Hi Bruce,
Yes, Dilly Way is clear, and perhaps slightly less viscous than Gink.
It is pretty good stuff, and can also be used very sparingly as dubbing wax, thus building an additional element of floatation into the heart of the fly.
Cheers,
Angus

Default Dilly Wax

Bruce,

The stuff I've used is in a small plastic tube. It is solid initially but melts when squeezed onto a finger or application pad and rubbed, i.e. due to body heat. It is clear in its liquid form.
I've never used it in cold temperatures, so couldn't comment on its low temp properties.

I have been very happy with it, and wouldn't use anything else. The only problem is getting hold of it. The last tubes I got were from a shop in Halifax, Lathkill tackle, but that was a few years ago. I'm sure you'll be able to track some down by google etc.

Can anyone shed some light on the name?? Or is it some unrepeatable american slang innuendo?

I use it on the end of my fly line. Floats like a cork all day..excellent for the job.

Phil Holding (Spidersplus on the Forum) sells it by mail order.
