Default New flyfishing book - could be a cracker

I was with Jeremy Lucas yesterday evening, who had with him his brand-spanking new book called ‘Tactical Fly Fishing’.

I haven’t read it, but a quick flick through suggests that it could be a worthwhile buy for those of us who have gone beyond describing ourselves as beginners. Jeremy is a thoughtful, articulate guy with lots of fishing, guiding and teaching experience so the book should be well worth acquiring. All being well, he will also be participating in the second Cumbria Fishing Festival in mid-May (of which more when we’ve finalised the 2010 programe).

You might want to save your specialist tackle supplier from the workhouse by buying it from a fishing retailer, but then you might want to go the way so many of us do today – down the Amazon

David
If you do a search you will find the book has been read by many on here including myself, not one person had a good word to say about it albeit everyone holds Jeremy in high regard.
I would not recommend it without reading it first.

I will buy the book as even after 1/2 a century of fly fishing, there are still things for me to learn.

However my own experience of books written by competitive anglers is that they don't tell all, the authors seem worried about giving too much away.

Some years ago, Chris Ogbourne wrote a book about competitive fly fishing. Most of the info in this book was about fishing rules, not tactics, which was a great shame as Ogbourne is a talented angler.

Aye it's already been covered on here I believe - I think the verdict was less than gushing.

Found it! You guys are quick. I knew it was out around Xmas, so I'm surprised how many of you seem to have bought and consumed it already. I shall make my own judgment in due course.

I will judge for myself when I get my copy, I am sure their will be plenty in it for me to learn. Thanks for the link.
