we are off to St Jean De Monts in July, just wondering if any of you have fished for Trout around that area, any venues? advise?

I worked out in the Vendee for a while many years ago and did quite a bit of sea fishing up and down the coast. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the freshwater side.
There are rivers and lakes and there will be coarse fishing - the French are well into it - and I'm sure some of the waters will hold trout. From what I remember permits/licences can be complicated though.
You could try googling if you have rudimentary French. - search for vendee, peche, peche a mouche, peche a truite or try entering the names of some rivers.
I'm sure someone on here will know something. Otherwise, take your gear and seek advice in a tackle shop when you get there. in my experience, they're pretty helpful
