Whiteknights run down of the stretches of the Blythe is interesting,i think the area around barston to Temple Balsall have the most appeal. I would be interested in any stretch where its just wild fish, including the Dace and Chub,as stocking with Rainbows is just a green for poachers!
Another thing, the river is full of Signal Crayfish! Not sure how much impact they have on fish stocks? But i think they are pretty much everywhere now.Anyone eaten one?
Caught one at packington,on a gold head nymph, tried to hold it as you would a crab by the back of the shell, cant nip you that way. WRONG! Big red claw swivelled round and nailed me! Beware they seem to be double jointed!
Best tread on them.

In an attempt to re-ignite this post - has anyone had any success for the browns/bows on this section of the River Blythe (under the Packington estates syndicate)???

I am definitely interested in hitting this the upcoming season!! Any feedback would be greatly received...

I am with you on this as I have been looking myself I live in Coventry and so far have only found Packington stretch of Blythe which they stock at £100 a season.

The Sow I have been looking at that myself as I corss it on my way to work in Baginton Area of Coventry and always wondered if it had fish in or not I am hoping to spend an early morning checking this out in spring / summer but being a novice dont hold out much look of catching but may see some fish.

Does anybody have any idea if this is private fishing or not ? Or that there are fish in there ? I cant seem to find any info on the river.

The upper Avon could be worth a look as the river is a lot cleaner than it used to be.
I still do a bit of matchfishing on the river, and fish in the Warwick to Stratford area, there have been a few good sized Trout turning up here. They are out of season at the moment and are quickly returned, they do not count anyway. So worth a look further upstream
As so few anglers fish the rivers now, and with many of them getting cleaner its a possibility that someone could stumble across a nice bit of Trout fishing.

Lads

I am a bit confused now. Gamefisher - are you asking where is the River Blythe ? This is the river that the A45 crosses at Stonebridge island where the Toby Inn near the NEC ? It is owned by Packington Estates and is private fishing the fee being around the £100 per season and is stocked with brown and rainbow.

The Sowe runs behind the Baginton Mill (cv3 3AN) pub in Coventry. Not sure if anybody has any idea if there are trout in here ??? From the small bridge in Baginton it looks quite fishable not on the scale of other well know rivers but worth invetigating ??

Please let us all know if anybody has any idea if this river holds trout ?

Thanks

Paul
