I remember many moons ago buying the complete range of Chubb products - 'Permaflote', 'Permasink', and their plasticiser 'Permaplas'. I used it all up on all of my lines, and best I can say is, it didn't do them any harm There wasn't owt so special about it to make me buy it twice.

cheers Rob, would you say it is worth 6 quid plus postage or would you just put the extra tenner in and get a barrio/pugwash line ??

If it's just one line yer worried about Icky, I'd put the money into a new one. If you've got 3 or 4 or more that need a face-lift, then give it a go and see what you think?

I was told the active ingredient of prermaplas used to be di-isoOctyl Phthalate - a very good PVC plasticizer, although most fly line manyfacturers use a cocktail of others now.

DIISOOCTYL PHTHALATE (DIOP)

Any good lab should have a jar of this viscous liquid lying around. It works brilliantly.

bobcat, armourall is what you are talking about, very good for giving your lines a lift, wouldn't help to replastisize though

Please correct me if wrong but i think most or a lot of line products are silicone based. Some polishes like dash shine are also silicone based it,s a type of oil. "WD40 spray oil is silicone based

Surely armorall must have some form of plastizer in it, other wise your dashboard would be cracked up,no pint making a product which claims to do a job and then knackers your interior, i use that and rainx ,be it halfords version , also autoglym rubber &vinyl cleaner, but would they bring an old line back to life , doubt it Dont think wd40 is silacon based if you want to get a line to speed through yer lines try ptfe dry lube, abit expensive though

I'm still using a fly line that must be over 20 years old - a peach cortland 444 floater - that I over-plasticised with Permaplas aeons ago. I'd say the stuff worked, but do use sparingly.
