Default Glasgow Agling Centre...whats your experience???

I placed my first online order with Glasgow Angling Centre on Sunday night...they sent me an email confirmation of receipt...its now Thursday night and I have no word of despatch or otherwise...despite 2 emails (No response) and a phone call (They said all items were in stock yet could not confirm any despatch date)...I think this sucks and just wondered if any other members have had any dealings with them?

Yet I placed an order with Gary Evans on Saturday...it was delivered on Monday!!! One of the items had a manufacturing defect (No fault of Gary Evans)...I emailed them last night to ask if I could exchange...came home today to find an email confirming replacement was already sent!!! Despite the fact I am a new customer based over the water in Northern Ireland...hats off to Gary Evans!!!

If you're from N.Ireland, stick with Sportfish, Grommit (on here and always arrives next day) Andersonsangling and Garry Evans. Fawcetts and Foxtons are good as well.

If you get ***** service, don't go back.

Had bad dealings with GAC years ago and haven't ordered since.

Things are better now, than years ago..."That's £18.50 postage to Belfast for that packet of hooks mate"..

My experience is only of placing online and telephone orders. They make an Indian call centre look like the most effective operation on earth...

The way I would describe the service would be useless, pathetic at times rude and generally dreadful , however I am sure there will be others that say otherwise... Good luck

as post above Grommit offers an excellent service , Also Sportfish and Garry Evans offer a brilliant service I wouldnt use GAC again under any circumstances...

Andy

This may sound mean but on the odd occassion I have had cause to contact them, I have found they sound, erm, a bit 'vacant'.

Generally, I only shop at one place now and that is Grommit's shop - Game Fishing Supplies | Sea Fishing Tackle Supplies | Fly Fishing Tackle Supplies | Coarse Fishing Tackle Supplies - UK - and have no cause to go elsewhere unless he is out of stock of something and he will tell you straight away of he is!

Free P&P too with near 24hr turnaround from order to delivery. You dont get that kind of service in many places nowadays.

Ive never used their mail order facility so cant comment . I do spend a lot of time in their store and spend a bit of money and Ive got nothing but praise for the service ive recieved over the years . Ive exchanged items with & without reciepts , Had a rod section replaced free of charge and had a lot of great help and advice from the sales staff .

My experience is "mixed". I've ordered fly tying materials from them. Generally, stuff has arrived promptly. But the note on the website saying "will be in stock in 5 days" is clearly not a solid promise! Am still waiting for those items since end of December. But not time to get shirty quite yet. Also, the telephone order wasn't taken down correctly. Hey ho. They obviously have a massive selection... but if you can't rely on them sending what they say they have then the value of that is somewhat diminished.

I was going to buy a rod at one point but I couldn't find a standard phone number,
I'm not paying for 087 numbers to buy something

I have had nothing but good service from GAC instore (normally dealing with Gary) and ordering items. All I will say is that they have one idiot who works in the store who is.....I will just keep calm and say he is not very helpful and should/will think before he opens his mouth next time to make a smart comment. So apart from him they have done me no wrong.

I've had no problems with mail order from them in the past.

Was in Wales and shot down to Gary Evans Newport store over the Christmas / New Year holiday, as saw the Newport store advertised as open, only to find it shut - but have had good mail order service ... I have no gripe there, as it was the holiday and we all feel pressured to work, when some time off would be better. Actually it was just an excuse to get out the house so who cares!

Ordered a new reel from Sportfish last Friday but still waiting ... not critical, as most of my projects are on hold due to weather in my work, schools keep shutting etc, I understand the hiccups of running things at the mo'.

I'm sure no one is short changing anyone intentionally?

Will whinge it it's not here when the weather is milder though Sportfish!
