Hi all. I am wondering if anyone on here knows anything about Thornwood lakes, Epping, Essex?

There is a website, but apart from some nice pics of the location, it doesn't really say much about opening times, tickets, depths etc etc.

I have been using Chigboro as my first choice, which I like a lot, but this place is about 20 miles nearer!!
Any help gratefully received.

hi gary,i fish there quite a lot and is owned by one of my mates peter.
i love the browns in there,cracking little fighters.

Hi Kev.
I live in Hornchurch, so this could be a contender for my "local" water.
I only started a couple of months ago, but am loving it.
Is it open all yesr, if so, times ? I might be able to have a day out this friday if it's open.

Also, what sort of tickets are there? C&R, or keep then C&R?

Finally, what depth, and what flies work here?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am quite excited about "discovering" a new playground for me!!

HI gary,i live in woodford green so its only up the road for me.
firstly dont bother on friday its still frooze solid.
4 fish £30 8hrs c/r after
3 """ £25 6hrs c/r after
2 """ £20 4hrs c/r after
he does a sporting ticket catch and release only,cant remember prices. basically its an hour glass shape with one bay at 16ft running up the channel at 8ft and past the island into the top bay which is 12ft,theres no doubt it going to end up deeper.
generally he doesnt let anyone on the water until 7.30am (im one of the lucky gits who have the gate entrance codes)
when it thaws i will give you a shout and perhaps have a meet up over there and show you the ropes so to say and introduce you to pete.

Could we look at a wee BBQ at midday? We had one at the recent friendly up at Elinor and even though it was freezing, it was a nice way to warm up a bit and socialise over boerewors rolls and hamburgers
