IMHO, look no further than the pitsford pirate. Top lines, top service, superb prices

I am using a john norris professional powder blue on my 5wt xp, bought it for my boy but kept it because it was so good and bought him another. £10, a steal sits better in the water than the orvis wonderline which always needs a good pull to straigten and shoots better than my courtland .I was convinced they sent the wrong line by mistake but the second one was the same quality. I am being continually amazed at the quality of some of the so called "budget" gear thats around....mind you i still wont swap the xp for a shakey or airflow

Apparently, Fishtec are selling Wulff TTs for twenty quid at the moment..telephone orders only.

Info came from a friend on the Forum.

I've recently picked up a 10 foot xp 5 weight....haven't had chance yet to use on a boat, but seems to me that it prefers my 6 weight line (cortland) to my 5 weight Mastery GPX. Not sure if the rod is under-rated or lines don't match. Bought the XP 5wt after using XP 7 wt for about 4 years, think this rod is bl**dy marvelous for anything between small dries and leaded lumps on DI7.

i have had this discussion with a few people regarding the xp 5 wt as a few of us use them
we came to the conclusion it is designed in america for a dt 5 wt and it was argued that because of the different head lths of wt forwards some 6s suit and some 5 s suit depending on manufacturer(for some reason it loaded withan airflow sixth sense 4wt which someone who didnt like me gave me)
this makes sense but whether is is the case i do not know.i can agree that it is a courtland 444 6wt that loads mine the best the afore mentioned budget line does the same job in a 5 wt i think its a case of suck it and see.as an experiment we tried five different dt5 and the feel was the same....maybe a fluke we dont know i am sure there are better qualified people than me who could answer this. we e mailed sage and as yet have had no reply

ive heard that a few times on other web sites that the 5 weight performs better with a 6 weight line,i would prefer to stay on a 5 weight line, any xp 5 weight owners out there able to comment on this.

That makes sense.

Whilst on XP 5wts....mine came with cigar handle and small silver reel screw, not black with double screw as 7 wt.

Anyone know if all 5wts like this or was there a choice?
