Hey there

I have just moved over here from South Africa and on the lookout for people and places to go fishing with and at. I would like to meet some people who enjoy their fishing and are not too overly competitive.

I am living in London and don't have any access to a car at the moment. I am interested in river/stream fly fishing as well as still water, though my gear is rather limited at the moment with the move.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Douglas, watch out for that Fat Old Git..........he lies like cheap chinese watch!!

Welcome to this fantastic Forum, boet!

I have been living here for 10yrs - made in Hampshire and born in Durban. It is a great country this, you cant compare lifestyles but it is still a decent place to live and work with plenty of great trout fishing.

I London, there are rumours of a few wee streams in greater London but you will need to ask around on the Forum. Stillwater-wise - you have Syon Park in west london though you will need to get a taxi from the station whilst walthomstow is walkable from the end of tube line.

If you can ever get out to Benfleet, Essex (from Fenchurch St Station) I would be happy to take you to Chigboro or a session out on Hanningfield Reservoir and have enough tackle to go around (ignore the jibes that will follow that statement)

Take care on the ice

Best wishes

Ben

Hi,

I am in London and the best club to join is the Wandles. See my signature below. It is a mixed fishing club, but mainly focused on fly fishing. There are a number of fishing trips, with lifts if required, out of London.

There are also a few forum members who organise Grayling trips to the Test. Plus if you check O'Rielly's shop out he has a trip every Sunday down to the chalk streams to fish for Grayling. O'Reilly is also on the forum check the sections on events etc.

If you didn't know a well known secret is that the famous chalk streams offer some bargain winter fishing. So a day on the Test in May will be £250. A day in February will be £25.

If you are looking for a bit if in town stuff in London you can fly fish on the Wandle for good trout (catch and release only) for nothing.

Hi Douglas, i live in SW London and will gladly take you for a day's fishing. I mainly fish the small stillwaters in the South of the country such as Avington, Chalk Springs, and Lechlade. Unfortunately i have a new baby so my trips are severely curtailed at the moment, that said, i'm thinking of a trip to Lechlade at the end Jan. If you can make it, I'll gladly drive you.

Cheers
Alex
