Default What do you ware under you waders to keep warm

I never fished in anything like this ever how ever last year at the start of the season i was up at the tay. I had on a pair regular cotton long john,s a pair of snowbee thermals and my waders 5 layers and i was absoluetly frozen when i was up to my waist. I ended up fishing no deeper than my knees. I was wondering if there are any thermals that do keep you warm when you,re in at waist hight. I have seen people with breathables on when there,s snow around ?

Even in the summer/autumn river water can be pretty chilly. While sea trout fishing I use neoprene waders, moleskin trousers and thermal long jons and it still gets a little cool late at night in autumn.

a pair of her tights then a pair of cheap £8 thermal long johns from matalan then a pair of £10 fleece joggers from he same outlet then the breathables. an extra pair of cheap neoprane socks over the waders neoprane bootees...(my feet get cold and this really helps, traps water between boots and waders and acts as an insulator)
in jan/feb discard the tights and thermals and don the 5mm neopranes.....have been fortunate never been cold in the river and only don the neopranes when its baltic/lunacy

It doesn't seem 5 minutes Bruce, that you were advising us all to get one before the winter came.
You don't work for the Met office do you. ?

I picked myself up a set of Pringle thermal long johns and top a few years ago, they are the business and well toasty. These are worn underneatrh a normal fishing shirt and trousers, then my waders on top obviously, so I have my three layers.

I use normal socks and also a pair of normal socks over my neoprene foot to cut down on wear.

The Pirate.
