Default Carron flyline

I just bought a new 7wt sage tcx and was wondering if anybody has any ideas on lines to get the best out of it. A friend has reccomended a carron jetstream intermediate trout line. Has anybody used one? What lenght are they? Any other ideas? Looking for long lines floating, sinking ect.

I use the floating lines in 5,6 & 7 Wt and like them a lot.
The taper is as follows for the following lines;

WF5 floating :- Head length 48 foot 6inches. Front taper 11’6” Belly 22’ rear taper 15’

WF6 floating :- Head length 49 feet. Front taper 12’ Belly 22’ rear taper 15’

WF7 floating :- Head length 49 foot 6inches. Front taper 12’6” Belly 22’ rear taper 15’

WF7 intermediate :- Head length 48 foot 6inches. Front taper 12’6” Belly 22’ rear taper 15’

Hope that this helps

Only you can decide what the best is. Try as many lines as posible. greys platinum, snowbee xs,courtland 444 all good lines. greys being my favorite. all trout lines are aprox 90 ft. what do you intend to fish. dry, wets, lures, buzzers theres diferent lines for diferent methods which are you after

A floater could be used for most, but an inter or sink could also be used depending how far down you need to go. A did not realise this was a quiz. I thought you,d might offer some advice instead of trying to spear me. I thought you,d be above that obviously i was wrong

There seem to be a growing number of questions like this that make the assumption that for any given rod there is an 'ideal' or 'best' line that will somehow 'get the best out of it'.

Simply, there isn't and logically there can't be. Get an appropriate weight line - there are plenty of quality lines available - and price is no guarantee of quality - Pirate's line are good as are Mike Barrio's - and learn to cast.

I can throw a fair old line, I hav a g loomis glx distance 10ft 8wt and can throw a full 40+ expert di5 with this. I presume a 7 weight of the same will work well on the tcx. I dont realy use a floater on this rod. I want a good floater for the tcx for buzzers, nymphs and drys.Ihave a 10ft 5wt z axis and i use an airflo ridge distance dry line on this which is ok but im looking for something better for the tcx thats why im thinking carron. Iv heard some realy good things about them especially a spliced carron jetstream spey line.Havent tried one but done some reserch and they seem to be good for distance.Hope this clarifies things a small bit.
Thanks very much fo the info and the pms

Not trying to spear you, I just didn't quite understand your post, it read to me that you were suggesting each of the four methods required different lines, when this is simply not the case, one line could cover all four methods, a floater for example and the taper design of such is purely down to what suits the user best.

A 90' line used to be the standard length more or less, however as technology has advanced over the years and people have become better and better at achieving greater distance with these technological advancements, more manufacturers are marketing lines at 105ft and 115ft for example, to the extent where 90ft no longer appears to be 'standard'.

To get the best out off a TCX, well Lighthouse is absolutely spot on.

The line to match will be purely down to what feels best and most comfortable for the user as stated. Does the user prefer a long belly model enabling more line to be carried, or do they prefer a line with a shorter head and belly, possibly along the lines of a shooting head?

This I can't advise on, all down to personal taste/preference.

Carron market good lines though, although would be improper to recommend them over the many other good distance makes/models on the market.

The Pirate.

stewart it would be improper for you to recommend anything so i will, get some of stewarts lines you will get two at least for the price of one expensive one ,and any mistakes will not work out as expensive so you can buy a float and a sinking line for the price of an expensive floater ,are they good lines ...well hundreds off here cant be wrong ...................can they
