Default Video training - brashing river bank revetment

Hi all - Happy New Year and hope everyone got out and caught some fish (the local urban grayling were kind to me at lunchtime yesterday). To inspire you all for the coming season - here is a 10 min video of the recent WTT Practical Visit hosted by Colne Water Angling Club. Some of the techniques that we used are shown - and we will add more techniques to this in future videos as we create trout habitat. The club are now continuing this work and supplementing it with fencing off of a buffer strip as well as planting with trees and wild flower seed.

Big thanks to the great Albert Wood (a non angler) who has produced a series of these videos for Trout in the Town in Colne (and who always provides bacon butties from his camper van kitchen!).

This practical visit was the one referred to in the thread about habitat works training open to all within striking distance: Who would be interested in habitat work training?

Great video, and I bit of an eye opener for me anyway.

It's certainly and seriously got me thinking, "what can I do and where"

This is an inspiration to us all. Those, that is , who turn up on the day.

Are you watching my fellow club members?

Rod.

I have to say, I had a great time helping out on the Colne Water river bank revetment, the club members that came along are a brill bunch, the weather was cold wet and misserable, yet we had a great laugh and the job got done with remarkable speed, a big thanks to all who came along and did there bit, to those that didn't make it or couldn't be bothered, you missed out. We (mad) men, were there again Sunday in freezing weather with snow up to our knees, and freezing water up to our "wotsits" chucking old xmas trees about, getting them down to the river, then stuffing them behind the logs and wireing them into the river bank as brash. We have over a hundred members in CWAC, yet it's the same few that turn up when there is work to be done. You don't know what you are missing by not attending, it's your fishing club, if you want to keep the club alive for another 57 years then get involved.

Absolutely superb lads. I take my hat off to you all. This is exactly the kind of video that needs to be more widely seen on fishing programmes to show the general public that we do indeed care.
I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Hi Paul, great video, have watched it a couple of times now and makes me want to go out and find me a river. Is that the same river that you produced Introduction to river fly fishing on, another great dvd that I have watched several times. Many thanks for sharing this with us.
