The Lake of Menteith has frozen over, with today seeing ice skaters, local curling clubs & lots of happy kids playing on the biggest slide EVER!

2001 was the last time the Lake froze over completely, and we're holding our breath to see if it will be thick enough for a Bonspiel -a curling tournament - last held in 1979 on the Lake.

The tournament previous to that was 1963, so these things don't happen often!

With a forecast for continuing freezing weather, things are looking good for a weekend tournament and these happy curlers snapped on the Lake today (Monday) will be able to get some serious competition going... in the meantime we'll be enjoying lunchtime walks to the island!
