Default Anti-ice machines ?? Fishery owners ??

Hi Guys

As we all know the current icy conditions have really hit the holiday fishing i had planned 3 or 4 trips there must be about 6" of ice on the canal ..............locally to me (Central Scotland) .........i think Swanswater and Wellsfield are the only fisherys that have invested in anti-ice machine's and are "just about" fishable ! in these extreme conditions ! So i take it they are still taking some money ??

For the other surely this must be a very hard time i.e NO revenue ??

I know if Wellsfield had another two anti-ice machines it would probably be 99% ice free, and there plenty of loonies like me who will fish in just about any thing

Just wondering what fishery owners veiws are on this subject ??

Pray tell, what is an anti-ice machine? The only anti-ice machine I've seen is a chap in a boat shaking it from side to side.

Swanswater has some kind of pipes that pump water up in the middle to make wave to keep the ice from forming ..............

Wellsfield has blue floating platforms anchored to the bank on two steel pole which house mini eletric paddle blades that again makes waves to stop the ice forming

Obviously only an option for small stillwaters ..................

Has anyone fished swanswater over the last week or so?

i was up first thing monday morning but even with the aerators on, there wasnt a lot of water that was fishable so decided against fishing it as didnt fancy paying £20 and being limited to a handful of pegs. (i see they now have a notice of this on their website, would have been helpful on sunday night!)

I'm itching to get out before i go back to work but don't want to up there if its a waste of time so if anyone has fished it, your feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Default Anti Ice Machine...Not

They are not anti ice machines they are Aerators for putting oxygen into the water during the summer months. Because of the way they work they create movement which helps to stop the water from freezing up.
