I don't beleive in end of season maintenance, each and every reel of mine, and there is a few, is cleaned and serviced after every outing.
It's not a chore, but a pleasure.

The best bit about maintenance etc. of reels or any other tackle, whether done daily or seasonally is that you're mind tends to wander back to the last time it was used . . . . . . . .
Happy days
Seasons best to all !!!!

Prevention is better than the cure. A little regular maintenance can mean the difference between getting a few seasons out of a reel and getting a lifetime out of it. By that time its a classic and its worth more than you originally paid for it, bonus. JB

I sometimes give the freshwater flyreels a going over about this time but the salty stuff which doubles uo for my piking is rinsed/dried and cleaned asap after use,I am thinking about this silicone spray on the fixed spools and baitrunners ,I am off to Waterville working end of month for a few weeks and will need them in good nick for some Bassing.

I take the lines off in the Autumn and spray a bit of WD40 in the gubbins. Job done.

Just for you Stu.

gubbins - definition of gubbins by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

No 4 is the most appropriate for you I think.

I suppose if i owned some expensive reels i would give them a bit of tender care but i have 5 Leeda LC 100 which i,ve had for a couple of decades and require minimal if not absolute zero maintenance and still perform as well today as they ever did, just a bit noisy.
The rods get a clean monthly and lines get a clean annually, its really a minimal maintenance hobby and catch plenty of fish, best hobby in the world, ck

Gubbins, the whirly bits with teeth and springs and the like. Gubbins.
