Default Rat tail file?

Can anyone help?
Just starting to build my first rod after being inspired by the quality of the rod I bought here last year.
Looked at loads of sites and sat through hours of You Tube videos and managed to convince the wife I needed a Pac Bay kit to start my new venture for Christmas which she did bless her.
From what I can see, a rat tail file is really useful to enlarge the hole in the cork handle and a ½ inch X 12 inch long seems to be the ideal with maybe a 3/8 inch one to start the job, but I cant find one for love nor money, can anyone help my search?
Cheers,
Top Conker

I think a rat tail file is just a tapered round file.

Thanks SS, do you know where I can get them though?
Tried B&Q etc and all they had were 8 inch ones that are not really long enough.

Hi TC,
I couldnt find one either but i do ok with a reamer. If you've got an old blank/rod laying around that you dont mind sacrificing, cut a long half inch strip of 60 grit sandpaper. Spiral it round the blank and tape it at either end. This will be fine on cork and shouldn't take to long to get it to fit the blank, you could chuck it in a drill to speed things up but take it easy!

Guides and blanks sell some pre made reamers for about 8 quid that might be easier...

Good luck with the kit, i have to warn you it can be quite addictive....
Cheers

I buy nearly all of my woodworking tools from Tilgear who have established a rock solid reputation over the years. LINK

They sell quality tools so can appear to be dearer than others but the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies to tools more truly than it does to many other products.
