Always used to be take the line around a smooth trunk of a tree and give it a tug.

Don't know if it has moved on or not!

Take a yard of line between your left and right hand and stretchit. Not too tight or you could seperate the core from the outer coating and it will go like a coiled spring.

Davie, I use a length on Braid, approx 3 ft, large loop at one end, big enough to hook to a branch etc, and on the other, a large snap swivel, so you can attatch your braided loop to.

Then, just walk out, allowing the line to peel off the reel, and apply pressure, allowing it stretch, and if there is any, twists to fall out with the help of the swivel.

This is good advice! only thing i do differant is a double swivel and when line is fully out take a soft wet soapy cloth and holding the line between it work down to the swivels, this repeated 2/3 times.
you will know when all the twists are out.

Out of interest what line is it.

Out of interest, how long do you think it would take to "fish out" any memory in a new line?

(not sure how to measure it - hours fished maybe?)

Cheers
Don

Basically the same idea as captian scarlet but I also use one of those big brass cup hooks and screw it into a fence post or something similair.
Makes all the difference.
