Default Fisheries in Berkshire/Oxfordshire

All,

Got a couple of weeks off, just wondering what places in the area are open over the xmas period - assuming that it warms up a little at some point?

Thanks

John

Lechlade, Bushyleaze, Farmoor and Blenheim Palace should keep you busy.

As above, also Barns lake.

What doesn't get mentioned much, if your into fly fishing for coarse fish.

There are shed loads of free stretches of the Thames, Ock etc.
Or day tickets for a couple of quid.

Thanks for those, will have a look into those. Didn't know how many just shut up shop for winter.

Cheers.

Bushyleaze fishes very well at this time of year. It was fully frozen over at the start of this week so always phone beforehand and check the ice conditions at this time of year. If it is part frozen they will still open and you can have everyone crowding around a quarter, or less, of the lake.

Blenheim is fishing well and less chance of ice because it has moving water through the whole fishery. Only a few feet of thin ice in margins of Bladon beat yesterday and easily breakable with net handle. Fish seem to be spread out and chasing lures and catch book shows plenty of fish being caught and not too busy yet.

Farmoor 1 is quieter than I have seen it but I think stock was put in recently and if the fish are switched on it can be great fishing. Blenheim and Lechlade win on scenery and this past week has seen a lot of concrete exposed because of low water.
