Kev,

I am sure you'll get lots or recommendations but I fish with a 7ft 6inch 3# Burns rod built on a Harrison blank. I got it and a reduced cortland current real for around the £200 mark. Another small reel I use is the smallest pfleuger trion which cost me around £50.

A few people of the forum like these rods if you do a search but I've also posted the link to the web site below.

Burns built fishing rods, quality custom built fishing rods and hand made fishing rods

Anyway have fun choosing.

I use one of these - either as 7'6" #2, 6'6" #3 or 7'6" #3 depending on the stream I am fishing and to be honest which rod I fancy using on the day.

I use a Danielsson Original "midge" reel and either a RIO Selective Trout or AirFlo Ridge line.

Small rods like that are great fun - but they have their limitations - you cant really expect to launch BIG Mayflies with them but for dry flies up to size 12 they are ok.

I use the 6'6" variant in the sea to target Garfish - believe me that's FUN - however I then load it with a RIO Gold ('still use the Danielsson midge tho'), the short head really helps casting in the salt.
