Default Greys £40 for each section needing replaced !

I spoke to greys earlier and i was told that for each piece needing replaced
there would be a £30 handling fee which is going to be put up to £40 in the near future. Disgracefull i think people should be aware of this. the rod was only £50 new grxi ?

I have a G series which was basically chopped in half in the garden by a washing maiden (don't ask). They charged me £30 and asked me to cut the section up and post it in a jiffy bag (which cuts down on the postage).

I was speaking to a guy last week who had his Greys snapped by a big fish and he was told to do the same, although I thought that if it was down to a problem with the rod blank that they should do it for free.

Scooby

You havent said how the rod was broken. Was it accidental damage or a fault in the rod?

If it was a fault in the rod and the rod is less than 1 year old, phone Greys back and speak to Graham Pirrie. If it is under 1 year then it should be replaced

If it was accidentally broken, e.g. trapped in car door, stood on, etc then that would be a different matter as it isnt a fault of the rod design/build

Let me know if I can help

Its in the terms and conditions of your waranty, unless its under a year old.

They ask you to chop it up and post it back as they want to recycle the carbon.

It that case, it was a fault in the blank and I definitely didn't stand on it...

Hang about!!

£40??

I searched high and low on the internet looking for a return address and found it on one of their Chub websites and it said £25 per section

I truly couldnt find a thing on Greys fly rods!

Oops, anyway this is what I sent back with my broken XD section.

Besides, they should still have me on file after all the Greys rods and reels I bought from them over the years
