Default Flextec rods

Has anyone tried the Flextec rods, I Bought a 10' 4 piece 5 to 6 weight Flextec rod off ebay , went up the clyde to try it out !, 2nd cast and the 3rd section snapped inside the 4th section !, sent it back to Tackle Discounts and received another rod !, went up the clyce again ! this time it lasted about 30 mins and has snapped at the same bit as last time ! ,(could it be a design fault ) The Irish team are sponserd by Flextex and use their rods !, I hope they have spares with them when they fish the International.

Did the 2 part separate could be something similar to what happens if you don't tape the joint of a double h spey rod.

I've got a 9' 6/7 wgt 3 piece and it seems pretty tough, I was seriously impressed when it arrived, for the price I expected it to be rubbish, but actually it's quite a nice rod to have always in the boot of the car.

Maybe the 4pc ones are more fragile, I'm sure tackle-discounts would swap it for a 3pc if so desired - the rods have a lifetime warranty after all.

All the best.

Being a recipient of flextec rods, I have used them alot. I found them to be excellent for the money. I have them in 6/7, 7/8 and 8/9. Also have three salmon rods from them. Have no complaints with any of them.

Never had a four piece though.......

I bought a flextec and had to send it back to Tackle Discounts - nearly lost the top piece first day out - it was beautifully varnished inc luding the ferrules so they wouldn't hold together. Promptly replaced without quibble, happy with the replacement

I have two 7 piece roads from Flextec and they have been ok !, It might just be the 4 piece models that are rubbish
