Default Right or left?

I fish with my right hand and reel in with my left hand.
Ive noticed loads of right handed anglers swap hands and reel in with there right hand Seems a bit left handed to me
How do some of you guys fish/reel in?
Any left handed fishermen out there who swap the rod to there right hand to reel in?
Think my ways the best way But i also think i might be in the minority fishing this way.

Cast and retrieve with the rod in my right hand, then when reeling in swap hands and reel with the right hand, as a gentleman would do.

I hold and cast a fly rod with my right hand and reel in using my left.

Funnily when I used to sea fish I would cast a fixed spool reel using my right hand but when using a multiplier would hold the reel with my left work that lot out.

I am right handed so my rod is in my right hand and it stays there ! Wind and pull line with my left hand.

You are not in the minority. Most right handed anglers fish this way.

I always keep my rod in my sword hand, my dolly hand is only fit for menial tasks like double-hauling and wiping my ar$e

The last reel i bought, i had to set from right handed reel in to left handed.
Is that the norm with fly reels? Always set for a right handed reel in?

Angry Doh

For some strange reason.Tackle manufactures think or were told a long time ago to do this.and no matter how many times they are told the majority wind left handed, they continue to pump out reels set up for right hand wind.

Rod in right hand, line or wind with left just like all the rest of the accomplished anglers.

I also hold the rod in my right hand and reel in, strip line etc with my left hand. I was told that the reason that some right handed anglers swap over when reeling in is that it stops the reel handle getting caught up in clothing and thus avoids the danger of tangling when playing a fish.

I think this is more prevalent in salmon angling.

Whatever suits the individual best is the way to go, it's just personal preference.
