Default FF&FT- Neil Patterson encouraging anglers to break the law ???

I picked up my Dec copy of the flytying comic yesterday and was struck (not for the first time) that Neil Pattersons "wild trouts wish list" section could be seen as encouraging people to target brownies out of season... it furnishes you with tips of how and when wild trout are likely to be feeding and gives flies and tactics for targeting them...

Am i being thick or is this bad form... novice anglers could find themselves in hotwater, i dont see the point of it, from a British publication for a British audience it seems like a waste of column inches to me.

Brought this up about showing pictures of Brownies in Trout Fisherman after the season was closed. They had been caught mainly in small stillwaters down south.
I think it is eroding the closed season. I know these fish are artificially reared, sterile and "enclosed" but the closed season must still apply.

I will read the Article.and decide.

Ok,Read it,I Cannot find anything that makes me think Mr Patterson is encouraging us to fish out of season.
If someone brings out a brown trout video in december, does that mean we should not watch it until the season starts.

Jim

Havent read it yet, but I know Ollie Edwards was very annoyed with him at the bffi for his writings about diving sedges. Ollie was all animated about his odd tyings so Neil not flavour of the month there !

I think your spot on icky they could have picked any of the 7 issues in the open season.
Maharg i also agree with you although you can take tripliods. it could easily be mistaken by people new to fishing.

Agree 100% with Jim, and his analogy of watching a video out of season is spot on. While I am far from Neil Patterson's greatest fan, I think we are in danger of somewhat over-interpreting his intentions and those of Mark Bowler here.
