As it says though, the Welsh Witch is a style of a fly, such as a blob etc, not an exact pattern, mix and match colours.

I'm still not convinced it's that good!

The fly was "created" by John Davies and now his wife Keri ties them to order. if you look through the catch reports in TF magazine you won't find the fly listed very often other than after John or Taylor Davies's names. I think it's a marketing strategy to sell more of Keri's flies TBH. but maybe that's just me being cynical!!

Default welsh witch

Sorry fj got to differ on this score with you, its all down to having confidence in your flies if you truly think your fly is the dogs b......s then you will fish it with conviction erm rember draycote and that black nymph i had on the point in your words : nothing special , but 9 fish later i think you had one from me the same must go for the welsh witch , these people have a tried and tested pattern ,albeit a lure and would use it as first choice ,so increase its chance of being a top pattern ! i think your on the nail with the marketing ploy though but can you blame them after all there in business to try and make money

tight lines

My uncle bought some of Keri Davies at the start of this season and although he caught fish with them they were nothing special as myself and my father caught as many if not more fish using dancers, damsels cats ect, so they are not what they are all cracked up to be, as mensioned before it must be a confidence thing with the Davies's that they catch so many fish on them.

i once saw this guy catch fish after fish on what he said were his welsh witch patterns, i know for a fact that he didn't have a witch on just self promotion, which i can't really blame him really.

To be honest that is where i first came across the Welsh Witch name, they seem to be catching fish on them so they obviously work, just never seen one,ck

The fly sent to my uncle by Keri Davies is:

tail - brown marabou
body - gold type dubbing
body hackle - brown
hackle - brown
rib - gold wire
beard - red floss
cheeks - jungle cock

Looks like a brown dancer with a red beard and jungle cock cheeks.
