Hi Horses50.
I recently ordered a few bits off them. Order was for a TMC whip finish tool, a TMC bobbin holder, some lead wire, tinsel, and a few other bits. Paid for it, and then realised I actually meant to order 2 bobbin holders.

My mistake, so I rang them within 1 hour of placing the order to add it on to the order, thus avoiding having to pay a second postage charge. Lady on the phone was very nice, and sent me a Paypal request for payment which I paid immediately and was told it would be added to the original order.

When the order arrived, 1 week later, surprise surprise there was only 1 bobbin holder! I e-mailed them on saturday, when I took delivery, but not received a reply yet. If I log on and check my order history there is no record of the second bobbin holder, for which I have paid.
I will telephone them today and will have to wait and see what happens.

I think a week for delivery is simply not good enough. I have recently ordered stuff from Grommitt, Ruthvenflyfisher and Pearly dabbler, all here on the forums, and got my goods the next day.

Needless to say, I am not too impressed with Atkins, but will give them a chance on the phone today; after all, they have had a couple of days to check their e-mail and reply, which they haven't done.
I know it's a small thing, but as this was my first order, I was hoping for a better experience. I doubt I shall use them again. Instead I will deal with forum members wherever possible.

So, watch this space. . .

A wee bit of advice, if I may be so bold.

If you want customer service then speak to Ian Woods (Grommit on here) or ian-woods.co.uk although they dont show everything on their website but ring the shop or PM Grommit.

Free delivery, discount for Forum Members and I have lost count of the number of times an order has arrived within 24hrs.

Once, the postman rang the doorbell with my order as I hung up the phone from the shop - they are that quick!

I believe Atkins are based in Ireland so maybe a 24hr delivery service is asking a little too much. Having said that waiting more than a week is not on. I've ordered from Atkins twice in the last 3 months.

First order arrived in 3 days (travel rod and some bass bags) but the 2nd order for some fly boxes took almost 4 weeks to arrive and when I did finally get them they were the wrong size. I did call them but It was just too much hassle to send them back so I sold them to a mate.

I won't use them again.

Hi Horses

I would say that the best advice would be that if a place gets a bad press from quite a few ,then its best avoided, as there is plenty of others with good press who really deserve the support.I believe that all should get a second chance with everything, but not a third.

I ordered a rod, reel and line fom Atkins in Northern Ireland. The line came from Yorkshire, the rod came from Sweden and the reel came from somewhere else that I can't remember. There was a fault with the rod so I was told not to send it back to them but to take it to importer! It was resolved in the end but I get the feeling that they aren't a shop, just an organisation that sources tackle. Nothing wrong with that until something goes wrong!

Being a glutton for punishment I ordered some more stuff on 27th Nov, no sign of it yet

Have you tried these for Rio Selective?

Rio Selective Trout Fly Line

PS. I only had one transaction with Atkins. Ordered a rod tube and they sent the wrong size. Had to go though the palaver of rewrapping and returning. I eventually received the correct one weeks later.
They seem like nice people but oh sooooo disorganised!!
