Definitely feel naked without a hat. I forgot mine on a couple of trips last year and felt positively Bobby Charltonish! Probably added to the ever growing excuses of not being able to catch a fish!

I feel for you. Went through the experience. Tried lots of hats since to get the same 'luck', including driving to Nth Wales to get one from the same shop.
nothing came close, and I was never the same.
Best advice under these circumstances is to give up fishing.

Yep, I need my hat. A gentleman is not properly attired without some form of hat.

Just don't, for God's sake, get one of those God Awful baseball things. Just makes a man of a certain age look like a top plonker and a desperate reject from the local gang of hoodies that hang about down the off licence!

Does it now? I think you have probably insulted the vast majority of the forum there. So long as it's not burberry and set at almost perpendicular to your head I don't see why it makes a difference.

dogpatch I've noticed you have some strange habits, like quoting your text when you start a thread and now the lucky hat thing. Whats that about?

I love my old and well worn Barbour Tiffler, but am seriously considering a replacement for Christmas, as a present from my daughter.
I like the look of the Orvis felt packable, £39.
That was until I read a few reviews on it.
Some say it's wonderful, others say it gets wet and shrinks, water spots badly, and is not packable at all, in fact wont regain its shape.
I don't intend to pack mine, it will usually be on the old bonce, so no worries there, but am a bit bothered about the shrinkage talk.
Anyone got one they can enlighten me about. ?
Fish without a hat..................unthinkable.

I have a Barbour waxed bucket hat, I wouldn`t leave home without. Great for sunny or rainy days. Peter

My Hat . Don't know if it is lucky or not and YES it is a baseball cap . A very nackered washed out one that was once black . I was going to use a new one next season and throw that one away but I can't bring myself to do so .
