Default nymphs ?

I am going to be buying some nymphs for river fishing for trout mostly and sometimes grayling. I was wanting to know what are the best type of nymphs (weighted ones) are the best? I was going to buy GHHE and PTN's is there any others that fish well?

Liam

Thanks for the link, G1994, and welcome to the forums.
HI' Liam. If you are mainly after trout in rivers, you may not need to fish as deep as you would for grayling, but you will certainly need both light and heavy nymphs to cover fishing for both the browns and the 'ladies'.
You should be ok with GRHEs and Pheasant Tails, and one or two olive-based nymph patterns for trout when up-winged flies are emerging. You might need a few pupae patterns, also, for sedge hatches. Good luck. TC

grayling 1994,

can you please tell me how i can get hold of the hooks that the red thorax quill nymph is tied on and the hook that Phil dixons nymph is tied on.

Phil gave me a couple of them flies at the Dee last year and i have been looking for the hooks from them ever since
