Default Corrib in flood

Took these last week after the heavy rain. These were taken at Greenfields.

This was the car park. Also the reason why some people should not be aloud to own boats.

One of five boats left the elements in the harbour. Some folk just have too much money.

The harbour was here and there used to be a causeway out to Inchiquin island out there some place.

Jack Kelly's pub and what was the car park in Greenfields.

And finally one more well cared for boat...

Aye it is the same over here at Sheelin . Talking to some of the older fellas it seems it has never been so bad .

The pier and Kilnahard is gone and also there are some boats you can't even see as they are under water !!!

I think this gives a whole new meaning to the term car-park flies.

All this time I've been thinking that they were the bogus patterns that you tied on in the car park before a comp to bluff the onlookers, then swapped for your killer pattern in the privacy of the boat!

Never thought it would be possible to motor over the Inchiquin causeway! - that must have been a hell of a lot of rain!

Bazzer , A mate of mine went out pike fishing last week on one of the Loughs . He launched his boat from the near by housing estate , motored out across the car park and OVER the top of the hand rails

Danny, I see plenty of boats bouncing around in Kilnahard for the winter.
Cant under stand how people can just walk away on Sep 30th and forget about their boat until the new season. It just beggars belief. To think there might be some young lad out there who would love to have his own boat and would make a better job of looking after it than some people. More money than sense.

Thats amazing photos guys

I wonder if this will affect the fishing next year

I know Melvin normally fishes very poorly when water levels are high, but even if these levels return to normal, will it affect the loughs in some way.

Yep very true . I even see them in the season with the back end with engines on under water . You would think that people would see it been raining hard and think "HHMMMMM I should go bail my boat" .
Some people ( like Hobble ) are lucky as they have slaves to look after their boat and make sure it stays afloat

It will for sure affect the fishing I would say , if the waters do not drop back by then . I found that when the water was high it was hard fishing but as soon as it fell back by a good amount the fish came back on. Lets just hope by the season start weather has let up a little .......
It must have a massive affect on spawning I would think ??

Greg, last time Corrib flooded like this was two years ago,(remember the crypto thing that had Galway city people all sick as small hospitals), and the following season the duck fly olives and buzzer fishing was great so hopefully we might get a good season after this. One thing I hope is it stays high like this until the season starts as I think it fishes much better early season when its high.
The way the weather is today in Galway I don't see the Corrib dropping any time soon.

Mate,

You should see the ERNE. Watch the video of this.

UTV News - Lough Erne levels 'highest on record'

The water levels better drop by first of March or I wont be able to do my workout in the gym, after a few pints and a hard days fishing.
