Starting out boat fishing can be a little bit dauntung. Don't be put off by simple mistakes .The same mistakes we have all made. The only way to get it right is by expeience and good advice .Don't be affraid to ask you'll find most anglers will be only too happy to help..Glad to hear you got some nice trout on your first outing affloat

It Does'nt matter to me wheather i'm in a boat or on the bank as long as i'm fishing...

Hi', Tag. I sold my boat, used mainly on Ullswater, just 5 miles up the road, back in January, 2007. Had it 7years, from new, and really enjoyed fishing from it. As far as fishing the lake was concerned, you could expect to beat your results from the bank almost every time, often, no comparison.
Some of the drifts were almost a quarter of a mile long. Nowhere was out of reach, and even the private shoreline was fishable from a boat, as long as you didn't anchor, and provided you didn't beach or moor the boat.
Don't worry about making mistakes; but you can avoid most by planning well, and by getting into a routine.
Do I miss the boat? Not as much as I thought I might, because I can now concentrate on other things. Good luck. TerryC

The boat accounts for 90% of my fishing these days. Generally speaking, if there's no boats on offer, then I don't fish it. Drifting is what I like to do. There are a few exceptions though.. my nearest half decent fishery (2 miles ) is bank only for guests, and I'm not a member, so if I'm gagging for a fix and I don't know where my next one is coming from then I fish it from the bank. Also, tarns, Scottish hill lochs etc where there are no boats... sometimes these places can be just too damn good to let the lack of a boat stop you. It's great to travel light and enjoy the trek and the solitude, and some nice lazy fishing... walk and cast, walk and cast.

I like them both, but prefer the boat due to the amount of water you can cover

I love nothing more than drifting in a boat catching a few bows. Unfortunately it's only bank fishing over here in the isle of man.
I get my fix once or twice a year at Grafham or Rutland i also want to give stocks a go next year

as for the tips on rowing get a motor

My idea of heaven is to be afloat on a Highland hill loch. You can cover so much more water, reach places inaccessable from the bank, moor up by an island and enjoy a picnic and usually catch far more fish.

One of my favourite lochs:-
