Angry Inland fisheries ireland

No provisions made by the minister for angling representation on this new government group(IFI) set up to manage and control our fishing into the future. Could this be the end of our sport in ireland as we know it

I have attended 2 meetings, last one was in oct, as far as can be seen the minister will appoint 6 reps from all parts of the country to work with this voluntary committee , its all up in the air at the moment,

but some of the proposals been put forward for implementation will cost us alot more money to fish than ever before,

as i said wait and see how it pans out,

hi hobble, the IFI group is to be made up of 12 members, and waiting to see if it pans out ok is not the way to go, anglers ,clubs, organisations need to get on to their TD,s and demand that their be angler representatives in the decision making process at the top table not in the regional commitees .I have just finished reading the governments bill of heads re/IFI and dont like what is in there

Proposals put forward to minister by out going reps of fishery boards,

include a number of initiatives to create revenue and harness support for the incoming board,
some are new and to be debated, others we known about for quite a while. As im aware of the people who are head hunted for these posts are non anglers, but successful business people, this group will totally be a unpaid venture and voluntary,

so their the problems start,
anyways nothing as regards numbers has been signed into place yet,
its a open book until the board sits, add ons will be accomadated and im sure replacements will take place,

What do you expect in a banana republic? Everyting that's gone wrong (economy, church child abuse etc) is a culmination of the gombeen parish politics that has being going on for generations.

And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

hi hobble,
This group will be on expenses which is a lucrative voluntary position to hold as the provisions are made for it in the explanatary notes along with this classic in section 10 that ,quote(the minister may give policy direction to IFI and that IFI "must" comply with such directions)that is just one of the reasons i see that no real angler reps will be appointed except one of the old faithful user friendlies

True 60k would hardly get you to lunchtime, sure the expenses are worth more than that, and surley youll get a driver with the car
