Default Fly fishing around York ?

Hi
I'm new to the forums so just like to say hello.

I do a bit of fly fishing over the winter and only fish Marston Wyse fishery but is there any other trout/ Grayling fishing in the York area be it pond or river that might be worth having a go at ? I dont mind driving a little way.

Thanks

Lee

Hi Bruce
Thanks for the kind offer And I will probably try and take you up on that. I was at Marston last Friday and when I left I was top rod with 6 so had a good day. I only seem to do fly fishing over winter so have a lot to learn as I mainly match fish the rest of the year although I think my watercraft does help me.

I'm at work tomorrow so cant come but Im going to Marston on Wednesday if your free ?

Which rivers do you fish ?

Lee

Hi mate

the Derwent does have Grayling but there arent any DT stretches. The YDAA year book used to have a Rye section with good Grayling fishing but havent been a member for years ...

Yorkshire fishing is sometimes hard to find but a bit of effort will find plenty of cheap and good flyfishing venues.Clubs to think about include Thirsk-Cod Beck; Sowerby- ditto; Northallerton- Swale- Richmond Swale etc.The Rye is harder - I waited 11 years ..
