Toft Newton is a concrete bowl of around 40+ acres but dont let that put you off. The buzzer hatches are as good as you will see anywhere and the sedge hatches have improved dramatically over the last few years as well. Back in the 70's the hatches were truly amazing! It can provide fantastic top of the water sport during the summer months. My ony gripe about the place is that the boats come far too close to the bank on occasions. Thorpe Vale has 2 small spring fed lakes stocked with trout but in my opinion can be too overcrowded. Cleatham is a small rectangular stocked irrigation pond, again can be overcrowded. The choice is yours but out of the three I would opt for Toft everytime. Better hatches, more demanding fishing and less crowded. Hope it has weathered the recession and will be open next year with Jason still at the helm. IMHO it is the best trout fishery in our area.

Hi Ryann

I fish toft newton early Sept this year, my daughter stays down that way an was visiting and managed to sneak off while the girls went shopping, nice friendly bunch of guys, not very well signposted, but that's the way they want it, a local actually gave up his boat to me for the day, fishing was quite good better later on in the evening, was a bit of ablow on but had a very enjoyable day... will be back next time I am down that way

Dunk

Default toft

I fish toft newton fairly regularly , if you go in the winter months then the black pipe area is usually productive, see map in the lodge. Best tactics for winter are boobies , buzzer fishing from april onwards is very good , then as sumer comes along top of the water or blobs pulled fast work.
I wont be going this side of xmas , but if you pm me after i will show you around the place. I usually manage to catch a few.

One thing to bear in mind re toft , on occasions its very windy , not much shelter about and you sometimes need to cast a good line out, if you are not too competent casting then see Jason for a lesson.
