Default Thanksgiving in the U.S.A.

I don't know if you all celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK (I really don't know if you do or not), but if you do, have a Safe and Prosperous Holiday weekend.

And if you don't, I'll have some extra turkey and ham, with all the usuall trimmings, and make a toast to you all, with some fine burbon whiskey from Kentucky, and some fine imported beer from the Dominican Republic, in your names.

And if you don't, and your going fishing this weekend, I wish everyone Tight Lines, and be safe out there!!

No we don't celebrate thanksgiving here,

Best eating in the word are the 'left-overs' the next day or two. Left over 'bones' into a big stew pot with lots of veggies ... soup of the Gods.

Food of the Gods? A turkey breast sandwich with cranberry sauce, 'stuffing,' and just a touch of Mayonnaise dressing ...... God just typing that out made my mouth water! If you can get you mouth around the end result ... you made the sandwich too small.

yeah but you guys get to eat real turkey (and deep fry it)
we get farm bred things that taste like cardboard and are pumped full of water to make the weight up.
probably the reason I have a goose for Christmas!

Bad news for you Redneck ... that's exactly (save for you hunt) that's exactly how we get 99.9% of ours. Side thought: Actually the Turkey was first suggested as the United States 'National Bird.'

Yep, good, old Ben Franklin. As I recall he called the Bald Eagle a dirty, cowardly scavanger. Happy Turkey day everyone and lets not forget all the folks who are far from home and family on this day.

Take care

Terry

that's because I've been spoilt by my cousins in Missouri,
nothing like eating wild turkey, especially when you have harvested it yourself.
time to book another bow hunting holiday I think.

Hmmm back in the Ozarks with my bow and my banjo, happy days

Happy Thanks Giving to all

To all our cousins across the pond in America; A Happy Thanks Giving! After all it began (I Think(correct me if I'm wrong) with our British forefathers who first settled on the American shores; who gave thanks for the new land.

Default Happy Holidays

If you want to be P.C...

I say Happy Christmas, and Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys in the USA.

We may not have Thanks Giving....but if you live in the sticks (villages/countryside) we have a "Harvest Festival"Which is basically a celebration of crops, local produce etc...

I love it as it's a good excuse to get some homemade food and drink inside you......my Nan and i use to brew Elderflower wine to enter in a local village harvest festival..

We occasional won a ribbon, but did try most of the other entries and always managed to be well oiled come the end of the day..

Errrr, hunh wanah? Fine imported beer from the DR? WTF? All I can think of is that they must be exporting ALL the fine beer made down there because when I was there last year the beer ranged from ok to bad to really ****-poor. What are you drinking?

And please, let's show some respect for the native spirit here. It's Bourbon whiskey. Please note the spelling and the capital "B". Bourbon doesn't only come from Kentucky, but it's a proper noun. Or at least we should treat it as such.

We are going to my parents for Thanksgiving, where my mother is hosting dinner for 20! My father bought the turkey from a local farm, the freaking thing is a monster. 25.2 pounds when fully dressed! Holy freaking cow, I told dad that if I met that turkey in a dark alley I'd have to shoot it just out of fear he might attack. The drumsticks alone must wight about 4 pounds each.

I saw a flock of wild turkeys last weekend when sitting on a deer stand. They were feeding in a logging clearing and then 3 deer came out and the tom strutted over and chased the 3 deer off of his clearing. Very intersting birds to watch.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Grouse
