The bloke with the beard.
Make your mind up who I mean as there are a few potential candidates.

The main reason I stopped buying TF was that I was tired of seeing yet another grinning mugshot of the whiskered one holding up another big stockie.
Other candidates might be NH, JH, IB, PP and maybe CJ.
To their credit, the guys are clearly skilled and caring anglers who would no doubt claim they are just trying to help others to improve.
I just wonder how much they are paid for recycling the same old articles year after year?

Unless trout fishing magazine publishing has changed drastically since the 1980's, I think you'd be astonished at just how little the contributors get!

Horses for courses ... in't it cap. ?

Personally, although like most, i do appreciate an enjoyable read, but i have to admit leaning toward ' good ' instructional ' advice as a preferance.

There are many ' ego ' trippers offering there doubtful services to the magazines these days in an effort to raise profiles etc, which in my opinion sometimes results in a lot of wasted pages { sorry, but it's true }.

Fred.

Very true Steve,

But some use it as a ' reach network ' to genuinely help other anglers to get more out of there fishing

I am happy to stand up for the contributors, I think they do an OK job, they have to try and come up with new angles(a hard job) every year and get paid very little, and magazines are in no great hurry to pay, from what iv'e been told.
