Default Airflo Fly Rods?

Has anybody ever tried the Airflo 40+ or Mtec fly rods and if so whats your opinions on them,

I have been looking at them for a while and also the guildeline awm single handed fly rods in the lower ratings mainly for fishig dries and buzzers on stillwater,

So any help is great,

Thanks

Niall

I would avoid the Mtec S3 rods if i were you, i bought two of them, they are nice enough rods to use with an action on the soft side of middle to tip. The downside was that the varnish started to peel off after about six months, they now look awful.

A couple of weeks ago I tried out the father in law's Airflo 40+ rod 10' AFTM 8/9. I usually use a GRXi 7/8 10' as my casting isn't that good. I must admit, I was impressed with the Airflo and I was putting out an extra 3 to 5 yards of line within a few casts. It is a mid tip action rod and loads efortlessly and looks very nice. I'm now looking to get one for Xmas.

Default 40+

I used to have both of these rods, but not anymore, the mtec was to soft for me, but still a nice rod, the 40+ is a little stiffer I liked casting with this rod, for the money its a really nice fishing rod.

Thanks for the replies guys,

I was looking at the Mtec 5/6 and the 40+ 6# mostly for fishing buzzers and dries so what would you reccommend more in those sizes, i really want a 5# with a fighting butt tho,

Hi a few years ago I bought a Airflow PT used it about 4 /6 times and I had to send it back.. the middle section rings wore very badly on the inside they went copper no chrome left on them so I thought i'd my lesson with Airflow rods...no I didnt this year I bought a 40+ 9ft 9# for single handed salmon in a sale for small river work..I could not believe it I took this rod out twice.. twice thats all the finish on the tip ring has worn away in two outtings I will never get an Airflow again the blanks are great the rings are rubbish..I have now got Daiwa Wilderness 9.5ft 9# for the job much better rod all together.
Cheers Glyn
