Default Ally Gowans & R Tweed today

Just had an unusual day, starting with intention of going racing. Took dog for a quick exercise alongside the Tweed at Kelso, and found the area available for exercise was severely limited as the river had almost reached the car park. Everyone taking photos, except me of course (sorry!), and saying the road was under water further on. Did not investigate.

Arrived at Kelso Racecourse, heard an announcement that Ally Gowans was doing casting demos, so dog and I beetled off down the course and spent a cheerful half hour with AllyG having casting tuition, very pleasant and informative man who said, firmly, "I practise. You have to practise." Of course he's right, groan.

The Farmers' Market cancelled owing to high winds, the falconer wouldn't fly his peregrine because of high winds, but there was AllyG, casting perfectly, with a piece of wool on the end of his line.

Never did see a race...good day though.

Trish

Rubbish - he wasn't practising. There is a good lie on Kelso racecourse at the first hurdle when Tweed is showing 10 foot on the gauge.

The lack of bridges or the road being underwater would not have worried Ally Gowans I hear that he can walk on water.

It sometimes invades the point-to-point course...

Damn it, I only realised this had been on when I went down to Kelso late afternoon. Must pay better attention in future!

Anyway, here's the Tweed at 4pm today, at Kelso Bridge.

About 10ft up this evening, the river was nearly 17ft up at Norham today.

None at all were you tired at the time? It might just have been a wee story to get you to sleep.
