Default Gave in too soon....

Right, there are a few points pertinent to this thread.

My wife is due to have our first baby imminently (due next week)

I have not been fishing for 5 weeks.

We moved house 5 days ago and aren't fully unpacked

It is likely that i will not be able to go for a few weeks after the birth.

I am DESPERATE to wet a line.

What the hell do i do? Anyone been in a similar situation who has any sly tips on how i can get out of the house for half a day?? I have thought about offering to go to her parents house (50 miles away) to pick up the remaining baby stuff which could mean a few sly hours at Avington (10 miles doon the road) or begging and offering her a Tiffany necklace... all hints have been met with a little 'you're so funny' giggle when in reality it's the last gasp of a dying man... All i do is dream of fishing (seriously) When at work i look through my Iceland photos and think of fishing... I check catch reports and hear news from people saying X fishery is doing really well, but my mobile keeps blinking at me ready to ring, and tell me to get home pronto..! If it rang and i was bobbing around on Lechlade, she'd do a Lorena Bobbitt Not to mention the house move/unpack...

What on earth can i do?

BB,

Try the honest approach and explain that............... when the baby comes you'l have no time to go fishing, so would it be at all possible that you may be allowed one last cast.

BrownieBasher,

Don't think there's a perfect solution. Nearest I can get is:-

Send me your rods;
Send me your reels;
Send me your flies;
Send me money for a stocked reservoir.

I'll go fishing and tell you about it later!

That's the title of the thread! I used those precise words about 5 weeks ago, and she sent me off to Avington, and even paid for it...) I gave in too soon though, and i NEED to go again, and soon...

Now i know why you're called pondlife...

Worst thing is, she emailed the wife of one of my fishing buddies last night, and i was cc'd. the line 'Alex is on a fishing ban until after the new year' was in the email..

After the new year?? Jaysis H Christ and his pet frog, Alan. no way can i last that long.

Simply book a day off work, leave the house as usual - at work time - return as usual - at home time - and have yourself a days fishing. It really is that simple.

I actually knew somebody who dressed for work, told his wife he was working away for a few days, and then he came and fished in a team final on Rutland for 4 days.

It's not hard.

I have done that too, if only for one day.. Problem here is getting the call when i'm bobbing around on Lechlade rather than being 20 mins away at work..

That's the chance you have to take mate. Weigh it up - how much do you want to be fishing, and what is the likelihood of getting that call...

I suppose it all depends on how much you REALLY want to be fishing

BB guess really you should bite the bullet, get on with unpacking, be exceedingly attentive,hey make the most of the next couple of days ,your relationship will change in profound ways when BB jnr appears.
New year really not that far away,and this is a special time for Mrs and your self.
Sorry to sound boring ,but SWMBO and i have been together since71 and I do have a vague idea about the female of the species,I stress the vague they are strange!
Some quality time now will earn brownie point in the future!
hope it all goes well.
