Default Rainbows

Hi
forgive me if this sounds a bit thick, but why do I always see rainbows in these
Trout fisheries? Where are all the brownies- are they not bred like bows?
Thanks

Brownies are a lot more expensive to rear due to their slower growth rate. Market demand I'm afraid.

They take twice as long to grow, and cost twice as much.

Under current laws, there can be potential closed season issues with stocking brownies that commercial fisheries wanting to stay open all year may wish to simply avoid.

Demand, less expensive to rear ,grow quicker, take the pressure off wild fish also by providing an alternative.Good fighting fish which can fight different,A beautifull coloured fish also. Most of all they provide good sport for many many anglers.
I also believe they have helped to grow the sport of fly fishing bringing in alot of anglers which may not have taken it up if it wasnt for the rainbow trout.

I also believe they have helped to grow the sport of fly fishing bringing in alot of anglers which may not have taken it up if it wasnt for the rainbow trout. there is the truth, with out the resivour explosion of interest in fly fishing combined with a close season I for one would prabably never have picked up a fly rod.
Rainbows must have had a major effect on the maggot breeders I was using gallons!

They are also typically more aggressive and easier to catch than browns which can 'disappear' into a fishery rarely to be seen again.
