Mate, not wanting to come across as one of the d**** (as I know there are plenty on here with out my help) but for someone that has experience in fishing is does seem a bit of a strange question..

So why did you ask the question?

May well explain some of the answers you received from those you perceive not to be 'normal'.

If you had bothered to do a search on here, you might have seen, this subject has been discussed a dozen times before.
Who's the d...head now.

That's just the point Alan, no, and I don't think there ever will be.
Horses for courses and all that.

Hi Steven,

Just like you I'm becoming a self confessed "Tackle Tart" And I wondered if you were saddling up and heading for the Antiques Road show on the BBC? it comes from Cumbria tonight!

Oh, and you can catch more fish with an expensive rod; providing it's the only rod you fish with!!

I think you will find the answer is ..Its because they can . The same reason as the well of drive jaguars and the financially challenged drive skoda. When in fact both are only allowed to go at 70mph,. Anyway..

Its the same as Why people buy £150,000 Cars and £1,000,000 Houses. Cos they can. They still do the same job just a little bit better. What people need to appreciate is that there are people who earn more a day or even per hour than the average person earns in a Year and these people are willing to pay extra for Tackle and Memberships so as not to have to mix with the masses. The World would be in a lot less trouble if people realised that yes its ok to buy the best you can afford but not everyone has to buy what the millionaires buy
